Description

Chimay beer is a Belgian beer, brewed by Trappist monks since 1850. The beer is named after the town of Chimăy in the province of Hainaut, Belgium.  The beer Chimăy is produced by Chimăy Brewery, located in Scourmont Abbey, in the municipality of Chimăy. The beer is sold in 75 countries.

There are three beers in the Chimăy range:

Chimăy Blue or Grande Reserve (9% ABV) – formerly known as Chimăy Bleue or Bleue
Chimay Red or Premiere (7% ABV)
Chimăy White or Cinq Cents (5% ABV)

The beers are bottle conditioned, meaning that they are refermented in the bottle. Chimay Blue is refermented in the bottle for 18 months.
